Ringo had a really good idea a day ago with this "building around" which could let even worse objective naabs like me to create fully working and exciting maps! I myself wait for those releases! 8)

This sounds like exactly what Huche and I need to get going. We've started to dabble a little, but the
whole thing seems a little intimidating. It would be nice to watch over someone's shoulder. Maybe
a youtube vid or something... I watched an EasyGen tute by RedNeckerson that was very helpful.

I've read it several places and a few of you have mentioned it, "I hope you like to read..." Well
the reading isn't the problem so much as filling in the holes that different authors leave, each assumes
that you know a certain step. For me, seeing is better. I realize though that all this takes time, and I
would rather that those of you who know how to do it spend your free time making maps!

My dos pesos...

Yeah, what Ciego has shown me looks intimidating for sure. Funny thing is I'vd done a lot of 3D work, but it's for art (3D Landscape) and I don't think that experience will help me much for game mapping.

Anywho, thanks, Ringo, for posting the links to this stuff. I've downloaded it all and will take a look at it as soon as I have time.

Most important - make it understandable even for such script newbies as me - with long explanations what does what and why and stuff! :)

i will , it will be with screenshots and various other stuff ..

as far as the wildwest goes .. ill explain everything there is to make a map for the wildwest ..

which will kind of look like this :

- Basics ( understanding the engine and gametypes)
( with map tutorial )
- Radiant ( basics and howto use)
- brushes
- entitys
- models
- scripts
- textures ..
- Examples
- doors
- Explosives
- objectives (targets )
- Flags
- fog
- light
- Combination of targets scripts models and such
- moving stuff

by then ud understand enough to create a map .. by my example or on your own
every section comes with a warning .. to save your work first :P

i will code it noobie like .. so u can get started right away .. without the shortcut keys ( ill explain why later ).. so it is re-traceable ..and explainable to both me and the mapper :P

- i might expand it with shaders .. but usually the wildwest stuff allready there suffices .. and creating shaders isnt really hard .. however time consuming :P

i will start from square1 as example .. with various terrain options :P that way im certain people who try to map .. do not get stuck on leaks .. just have to create buildings and doors ..

well during the map making , im saving all my buildings and objects / flags to use for the MME ( mapping made easy project )

current MME stuff:

a cart
some buildings
selection of rocks
koth script
script examples
map examples ( text based)

i might include an entire models folder but thats a double feature since its also in the mappers pack ...
