Which One?

Post by El Poncho » Sat Jun 02, 2012 3:26 am

So I have a new machine, and need the standalone and the new scanner. I just downloaded 4 things and I'm not sure which one is the latest/correct stuff to install.

Would someone be so kind as to explain which version of WW installer/scanner I should be using?

I have:
HangEmHigh.exe
scannerv1.zip
HangEm.exe
setup_WildWest1.613_Complete_v23.exe

Thanks! Can't wait to blast the hat off Stupido's head again!

setup_wild... is guntes version u cannot connect from it ..( well u could but the servers listed do not function )

HangEmHigh.exe = scanner which allows u to disable or add servers
scannerv1.zip i believe is the latest version with the ips fixed
HangEm.exe same as above, i havnt been around much lately , so ill see if i can clean up a bit ..

the Heh scanner was designed to see if people where playing , and a quick fix for the gunte scanner .. not as definative as the gunte scanner ..i have put the project on hold since hewster is building/compiling a new version of the total wildwest ..efforts to make the scanner better and such would be a waste of time if the new ww has features .. speaking of which .. we ( hewster and myself ) have fixed the "ingame" browser in an upcomming release of the ww :D

So I need a little help. I downloaded the 1.6 SA and ran the .exe file. I wasn't quite sure where I should install it to (as I've always ran the mac version). So..I created a folder named "Games" in:

/Local Disc(C:)/Program Files(x86)

I installed it to the Games folder and when I try to start it up, I get an error that it's missing the default.cfg file. How many other files do I need for the standalone, where can I find them, and which directories do they go in? :|

Thanks for the help!

:)

well , the Games folder should contain :

wolfmp.exe
Wildwest folder ( with all the files )

when using the gunte scanner , u might need to modify or create a shortcut ..

c:\games\wolfmp.exe +set fs_game Wildwest

hewster is working on a new fix for this but i havent been in contact with him lately :(

Oh, I didn't download the Gunte version, I used the HangEmHigh.exe installer. It gave me a HeH folder with wolfmp.exe in it and a WildWest folder with all the pk3's in it....so it's like part of the game minus the rest of the dependencies.

I guess I can check out my install on my laptop and transfer files etc to make it whole. If I get some time tonight, I'll see if that works!

Just wanted to bump this. I'm still not getting things to work. With the SA version Ringo listed, I get the error above.

I tried the Gunte version and when I try to start up the game I get:
VM_Create on UI failed

I'm running W7 Ultimate, any suggestions?

I get the same error when I try and connect with scannerv1 as well. Thanks!

Unacceptable! J/K

I'm starting to see what it's like, my wife is 12 weeks along and has been sicker than a dog for about the past 10 weeks or so...

The scanner works just fine. The standalone from www.the-wildwest.eu is missing some files and will not start up like I mentioned above.

That's why I attempted to install and use the Gunte version and turn off the updates like suggested originally.

I'll try it again tonight, but I'm pretty sure it won't work.

Two weeks in a row the Sunday game has been 2v2 with only U.S. players on. I'm starting to think Der Furher has succeeded in killing the game. :D Nah.. there will always be a few of us playing.. sorry Mike. I tried to help B@NDITO reinstall a working SA a few days ago, and we encountered the same problem as Poncho. Here is the screen shot Jerome sent me:

please take note of the PATH

"C:\users\Les enfants\Desktop\ww\nouveau dossier\nouveau dossier\HangemHigh/main"

there are several reasons why its failing :)

1 ) why does the path have 2 new folders ?
- try a simpler path ( huche succeeded also his path was 26 folders i believe)

but my best guess is "...

2 ) the registry is pointing to the wrong folder ( incomplete removal or reinstall does this on win7 if not runned as administrator )

during the setting of the WOLF.EXE(button) the values of the containing folder are written to the windows registry

open regedit ( start > run > regedit ) search for WOLFMP.exe (ctrl f )
and see where its pointing 2 :)
