Does it run on macintosh ?

Post by gunte » Sat Jul 11, 2009 9:50 pm

This is from Bing Crosby

Hi all,
I have a macintosh and wondering if there is a version suitable for the mac? Or will the windows version work if I try to install with a windows machine, then move the file to the main folder of RTCW? TIA

In WW homepage there's a Linux/MAC client - you should try that! ;)

I complied WW using CodeWarrior7 for mac binaries.... I know it worked on older max OS's,
not sure about the latest ones.... HOWEVER,

Due to coding in the original RtCW for Mac, you need the DLL switcher to run ANY mod on
a mac... I am sure the details are on the official website (www.the-wildwest.co.uk)

I do remember spending considerable time ensuring the Mac version worked, and the dll switcher
was 100% necessary.

Sorry I can't give more details, but it was several years ago, and many units of alcohol and other
mind altering substances have filtered through my synapses since then !

I can find out all the info, but try looking on the official site first.

All the best... gung ho, off to town we go... Hewster :)

Hello All,

I'm not sure if Hewster remembers me, it's been quite a few years. I was one of the mac users requesting that he create an easy workaround for the WW mod. We did have the mod working successfully back then, and the latest version of his dll switcher worked really slick. I still have it in my RTCW folder.

I recently decided to take a little break from playing newer games, and really wanted to get back on wolf again. I tried to run WW today and can not for the life of me get it to work like it used to. I believe I have the most current version, and I've also tried using Hewster's switcher, which seems to move the files like it's suppose to. Once I switch my dll's and start up RTCW, I get the following error, "recursive error after menu file not found. ui_ww/ingame.txt using default" and then wolf crashes.

It's been quite awhile, and a few os's ago, since I played around with the files inside of my RTCW folder, anyone have any idea how to fix this?

EDIT:

After taking a break and reading some more posts, I figured it out and got the mod working on my mac again. I forgot Hewster's tip of holding the SHIFT key and typing, "+set fs_game wildwest". Looking forward to actually seeing someone on the servers!

I'm running a G4 MDD with OSX 10.5.8, haven't tried this on an intel mac yet.

I'm in the process of putting together a mac standalone, and I think I pretty much have it ready to go. The only problem I'm running into, is figuring out a way to add the command:

+set fs_game wildwest

The game will not run unless this is done manually by holding the SHIFT key at game start up, and I may just leave it the way it is and make people follow the "readme" file to run it.

Lastly, I'm not sure that it will work on intel macs as I have not tried that yet. However, RTCW works on my intel mac, so it should run just fine. Any ideas?

LOL

I'm not sure if you're just being sarcastic, or if you're actually trying to help. :P

Either way, I got a chuckle from it. :D
