Hey Red. The level of spammers registering is unbelievable. I swear I delete 5-6 accounts per day that are people trying to sell everything from viagra to blow up dolls.

I finally had to make it so when a new person registers i must check them out first and then decide to accept them or delete them...

Talk about a royal pain in the butt!!!

Hey Red

I sent you a PM on the WQ3 forum that read the below. This should help you with the Spam Bots. It totally eliminated them from my site!!
When a person registers they need to click on a link that opens a new page with a code they need to copy.

It totally eliminated the spam bots that were causing me a lot of issues.

The link for it is here: http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopi ... 6&t=552845

And extra info here:
http://www.marshalrusty.com/phpBB/rac.mod

Make sure you make a backup of your data before you install. I hope it works as good for you!!

Dave

5 or 6? Are you kidding me? Try filtering through 70+ per day. Checking each one, even if only briefly, is a real time waster.
Anyway, yeah I got yer pm & saw your post over at wq3. Thanks a bunch for the tip. Our admin coded his own fix that seems to be working very well so far. But he'll likely be curious & check out your solution. Might be a better way to do it if it eliminates the need for manual activation.
